Members are appointed
to the Australian Landcare Council on a part-time basis by the Minister
for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry Australia.
The Council currently comprises a
Chairman, eleven
community members
and six members nominated by
organisations. Under the Act, members (apart from the Chairman) are
appointed for periods not exceeding three years. The Chairman holds office
for an indefinite period at the discretion of
the Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry.
In addition to the members there are two
advisers and two
observers
on the Council.
